Steps for Surgery (critical steps to secure your date)
Before your surgery
You will receive an email with your proposed surgical date and hospital details. In order for your surgery to proceed as planned you will need to ensure you complete all steps. Below is a guide to help you prepare.
Please be sure to complete all required steps PRIOR to your final pre-op appointment or at least 2 weeks before your surgical date so everything is ready for your procedure and it can go ahead safely.
Pre-Admission Clearance
To ensure your surgery can proceed safely your surgeon will have requested pre-operative testing specific to your circumstances.
This may include: blood test, swabs, cardiology clearance, attending your hospital for anaesthetic review, or other steps as ordered by your surgeon. It is critical that you complete any such testing as soon as possible in order for results to be obtained by your surgeon and anaesthetist in time for your surgical date.
Hospital Admission
Complete your hospital e-admission as soon as possible. This enables the hospital to contact you about your surgery. Select the hospital where you are having your procedure below and follow the prompts.
Imaging
If you require imaging ahead of your procedure your surgeon will provide a referral. Some imaging is specialised and may need to be completed a recommended centre.
Financial Consent
Sign and return the financial consent form which will be emailed to you as soon as possible.
Payment must be made 14 days prior to surgery to secure your date.
Pre-Op Appointment
The need for you to attend a pre-operative appointment will be determined by your surgeon based on your impending procedure. Your pre-op appointment will help you prepare for surgery and may include: how to use crutches, braces, pre-op skin preparation washes and planning your recovery.
