Hip Conditions
Hip pain is common, and it doesn't always come from the same place. Sometimes the joint itself is involved. In other cases, the muscles, tendons or other soft tissue structures around the hip are the source of discomfort. Because the underlying cause varies so much from person to person, the right approach to management also varies.
This page is designed to help you understand the more common hip conditions, the different patterns of hip pain, and the general pathway from assessment through to treatment and recovery. It's general information rather than individual medical advice — if you're concerned about your own symptoms, a physiotherapist or your GP can help you work out what's going on.
