Function & Movement Assessment

Our process and all the fancy equipment

One of the most important factors when it comes to optimising your health is your movement, without the ability to move well and often our health will ultimately suffer. This is why, at the centre of everything we do is to 'Improve The Way You Move'.

To make sure we are working on the right elements of your function at the right time we have developed a comprehensive assessment process. To provide clear, objective data on your progress.

In order to get take the guess work out of your health we have invested heavily in the latest and best technology for measuring all areas of your movement.

This equipment includes:

  • VALD equipment (ForceFrame / Dynamo / ForcePlates / Human Trak) to quantify your movement control, range of motion and strength.
  • Zebris Instrumented Treadmill. With force plates under the treadmill belt and cameras at the side and rear so your walking or running mechanics can we analysed and improved in real time.

Step 1: Movement Evaluation

How you move, load and stabilise across your body is impacted in the presence of pain and sensitivity. Using our expertise your practitioner will guide your through specifically chosen movement assessments to establish:

  1. Your mobility or range of motion
  2. Your movement patterns or habits that may affect your function
  3. Your stability and control in a range of different positions

Step 2: Strength & Power

Once we understand the quality of your movement then we need to determine how well you generate force and/or power in different positions. This helps us to:

  1. Identify any significant differences left and right that could be affecting your function or performance.
  2. Prescribe very specific exercise demands based on actual data.
  3. Understand where your strengths and weaknesses actually lie, not just what you feel is good or bad.

Step 3: Reporting & What To Do About It 

Once your assessment process is complete. You can then go on and enjoy the rest of your day! While you do that, our team will pour over the findings and producing a report of the most significant results and outlining recommendations for the steps involved in achieving your goals.

If you wish to engage in an exercise/treatment process with our team, we will also design a program using the assessment findings, ready for you to be taken through at your next visit!

Options for program support include:

    • Group sessions
    • One on one services
      • Physio / Exercise Physiology

2. Online delivery:

    • Telehealth support
    • Programming for your gym
    • Programming for home

3. Reporting Only:

    • Provision of testing report
    • Communication with your existing provider - Physio / Exercise Physiologist / Chiro / Osteo etc.
