Dr Cawthorne completed both undergraduate and post-graduate training in Sydney, undertaking his medical degree at the University of Sydney. With a wide range of experience across major metropolitan hospitals and regional towns. Dr Cawthorne prides himself on his personable and professional approach to patient care.
Along with his Orthopaedic colleagues at MTP Health, patient education and collaboration with wider healthcare team are central to his practice approach.
Dr Cawthorne has worked at several level 1 trauma hospitals across Sydney, including Royal North Shore, Westmead and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. In addition, his training included 18 months of elective orthopaedic experience, with a focus on Hip and Knee Surgery, at Sydney Adventist, The Mater and Northern Beaches Hospital, and also working in regional NSW towns such as Dubbo, Tweed Heads and on the Central Coast.
In 2018 Dr Cawthorne was selected to undertake 6 months of specialty surgical training in the United States, at Shriners Hospital for Children in Portland, Oregon.
On completion of his Orthopaedic training Dr Cawthorne completed sub-specialty training completing an Australian Orthopaedic Association accredited fellowship in Lower Limb surgery.
Dr Cawthorne has also authored and contributed to several research papers published in surgical journals and presented at State, National and International conferences. Including at the Australian Annual Scientific Meeting and the World Congress of Physical Therapy in Singapore.
