David Maiolo
Senior Exercise PhysiologistDavid has spent more than nine years helping people move better, recover well and build strength that holds up over time. As a Senior Exercise Physiologist at MTP Health, he brings a structured, no-shortcuts approach to rehabilitation — and a genuine interest in the people he works with, not just their presentation.
A career built around movement and healthcare
His path into the field grew out of a life spent around sport and movement, paired with an early pull towards healthcare (his mum is a doctor). Exercise physiology didn’t exist as a career option when he was finishing school, so he followed the thread — sport science first, then a Master of Exercise Physiology to broaden his skills and work with a wider range of people.
Nearly a decade on, he’s still driven by the same thing: seeing someone push past what they thought they were capable of and get their quality of life back.
Consistency above all else
Structured and progressive
David’s approach centres on one idea above all others — consistency. His programs are progressive and carefully structured, adapted to how each person is responding rather than changed for the sake of variety.
Adapted to the individual
He’ll modify the right variables (range of motion, load, tempo, base of support, plane of movement) to suit the individual, while keeping the plan steady enough to actually deliver results.
Rehab is a process
As he puts it, rehab is a process. There will be setbacks along the way, and that’s normal — showing up consistently and staying engaged, both in the clinic and outside it, is what makes the difference.
Motivation matters
He enjoys working with anyone who’s motivated, respects the process and isn’t chasing a quick fix.
Understanding where you are and where you’re headed
At your first appointment, David takes a thorough history to understand your presentation and what’s brought you in. From there he’ll explain the MTP Model of Care, work through a plan with you and set clear expectations, so you leave knowing exactly where you’re headed.
Rehabilitation, prevention and performance
His clinical interests span musculoskeletal rehabilitation, injury prevention and sport science testing, with a particular affinity for soft tissue injuries such as hamstring and calf strains. He enjoys working with anyone who’s motivated, respects the process and isn’t chasing a quick fix.
Supporting quality across MTP Health
Clinical leadership and mentoring
As a senior clinician, David also oversees quality across MTP’s clinical and non-clinical programs and mentors junior members of the team — encouraging them to stay curious, reflect on their practice and keep challenging themselves.

Beyond the clinic
Outside of work, you’ll find him with his family, in the surf, on the cricket pitch or travelling. And here’s something that might surprise you: he’s a keen photographer.
