Exercise Physiology Rehabilitation

Exercise Physiology Rehabilitation in Sydney

Exercise physiology rehabilitation uses progressive exercise to help you rebuild strength, movement and confidence after injury, surgery or ongoing pain. Our accredited exercise physiologists run rehab programs at St Leonards on the North Shore and Beacon Hill on the Northern Beaches.

Rehab looks different depending on where you start, so we offer three pathways and can help you choose.

Our Exercise Physiology Rehabilitation Approach

Every rehab pathway starts with a 50-minute initial consultation that includes a functional assessment. We look at how you move, what you want to get back to and what is holding you back right now.

  • Programs built around your goals and current capacity
  • Progressive loading, reviewed and adjusted as you improve
  • Communication with our physiotherapists, orthopaedic surgeons and your GP where relevant
  • Sessions 1:1, in small groups of up to four, or online

Rehabilitation that progresses with you

MTP Health was founded by an exercise physiologist, and our exercise physiologists, physiotherapists and orthopaedic surgeons work as one team.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Do I need a referral for exercise physiology rehabilitation?

No, you can book directly with our exercise physiologists without a referral. If your GP, surgeon or physiotherapist is involved in your care, we can keep them updated with your consent.

Should I see a physiotherapist or an exercise physiologist first?

If your injury is recent or your pain is new, start with our physiotherapy team or Urgent Injury Clinic. Once you are past that early stage, an exercise physiologist can pick up the progressive strengthening and return-to-function work, often alongside your physio.

How long does rehabilitation usually take?

It varies with your injury, surgery or pain history, your goals and how your body responds. Your exercise physiologist will discuss a likely timeframe after your assessment.

Can I do my rehab sessions online?

Yes, we offer telehealth and online sessions as well as face-to-face appointments. Your exercise physiologist can help you decide whether online, in-clinic or a mix of both suits your rehab goals.
