About Lachlan

A career shaped by sport and rehabilitation

His own sporting background led him here. Growing up, a series of growth and load-related conditions meant plenty of time in physiotherapy, and while being sidelined was frustrating, he learnt to enjoy the rehabilitation process and the work of shoring up his weaknesses. He saw physiotherapy as a way to help others reach their goals while staying connected to the sporting world he loves.

He’s since experienced rehab from the athlete’s side more than once — recovering from MCL and hamstring injuries as well as a syndesmosis rupture and stabilisation surgery — so he knows what the journey feels like.

Lachlan’s Approach

Evidence-based rehabilitation built around progress

Criteria-based progression

Lachlan’s care is evidence-based and built around criteria-based progressions rather than fixed timelines, with the goal of improving both function and performance.

Understanding the why

He takes the time to explain your diagnosis and why the injury has happened — because understanding the “why” makes a real difference to compliance and long-term outcomes.

Trust and collaboration

For Lachlan, trust is everything. Through empathy, active listening and clear education, he wants patients involved in the decisions about their own recovery.

Modify, don’t miss

His motto — “modify, don’t miss” — reflects his belief that while one structure heals, there’s almost always something else you can load and strengthen.

Your First Appointment

Assessment, education and a plan forward

At your first appointment, he’ll carry out a detailed assessment, then take the time to explain your diagnosis and why the injury has happened — because understanding the “why” makes a real difference to compliance and long-term outcomes. From there, you’ll plan your rehabilitation together.

Clinical Interests

Lower limb and sports rehabilitation

Lachlan enjoys progressing athletes through every stage of rehabilitation, with particular expertise in lower limb injuries: acute and post-operative knee injuries (ACL, meniscus and MCL), ankle injuries (lateral sprains and syndesmosis) and hamstring strains.

Rehabilitation Philosophy

Injury doesn’t always mean stopping

MTP

“Modify, don’t miss”

One misconception he often helps patients past is the idea that pain or injury means stopping altogether. His motto — “modify, don’t miss” — sums it up: while one structure heals, there’s almost always something else you can load and strengthen, and an injury can become a chance to return to sport better than before.

You don’t need to have the answers

If you’re nervous about that first appointment, his advice is simple — you don’t need to know what’s wrong before you come in. That’s what the assessment is for.

Performance

Returning stronger

Lachlan works with the athletic population — from weekend warriors to elite athletes — helping people progress through rehabilitation with a focus on both function and performance.

Outside MTP Health

Beyond the clinic

Away from the clinic, Lachlan plays semi-professional football in the NSW National Premier League for UNSW FC, and keeps active with the gym and summer swims. He also loves time with family and friends, a book at the beach, and walks with his two chihuahuas — usually along Collaroy beach, around Long Reef Headland or at Bayview dog park — plus exploring the Northern Beaches for new food and coffee spots.
