Teniele Thompson
Marketing & DesignTeniele is MTP Health’s graphic and visual brand designer. If it has MTP’s name on it — brochures, signage, stationery, merchandise, announcements — chances are it’s her work.
Shaping the visual identity of MTP Health
She trained in fashion design and spent many years in bridal, which gave her a sharp eye for detail and a natural instinct for visual design.
One of her bigger projects was putting together MTP’s current brand guidelines, and her main job is keeping the brand looking consistent and on-point across everything, in print, online and in the clinic.
Design across print, digital and the clinic
Print materials
Week to week that might mean surgical pamphlets, service brochures, program booklets, stationery or merchandise.
Digital content
Her work also includes website updates, social media content and video editing.
Visual communication
She creates anatomical illustrations and other visual materials designed to make information clearer and easier to follow.
Brand development
One of her bigger projects was putting together MTP’s current brand guidelines and helping keep the brand looking consistent and on-point across every touchpoint.
Good design is clarity
For Teniele, good design isn’t decoration — it’s clarity. She knows how easy it is to be overwhelmed by a wall of text and skip the important parts, so her job is to make the key points easy to see, understand and take in.
Making information easier to follow
Coming from outside healthcare actually helps: she asks plenty of questions to understand a process herself, then presents it in a way that she — and most patients — can follow easily.
Turning complex information into something clear
Making the important points easier to absorb
As she puts it, a good infographic can often do what a paragraph of text can’t. She also likes bringing a genuine design sensibility to a brand that could easily look like traditional medical material, because MTP’s approach to healthcare is a progressive one and she wants the brand to reflect that.
Ideas can come from anywhere
Her inspiration comes from everywhere — she’s forever deep in Pinterest (her version of doom scrolling), but a bakery sign, or a colour, font or texture spotted out in the world, can just as easily spark an idea.
Bringing the brand into a physical space
A recent favourite was the new clinic: beyond the signage and materials, she helped with the interiors, from furnishings to wall art, building mood boards and sourcing pieces to bring the brand to life in a physical space.
Nearly ten years behind the brand
Long-standing collaboration with the team
Teniele has been with MTP for nearly ten years, mostly working remotely and behind the scenes — but over that time she’s come to know the team well, and says how helpful and collaborative everyone is makes the job so much easier.
Beyond the design work
Outside of work, she’s a sun-seeker who loves the beach, travelling and taking on a good project. And something the team might not know: she’s a pretty good cook when she has the time and patience.
